Cool & Refreshing: Ayurvedic Summer Fruit Smoothie (Plant-Based!)

Summer is all about vibrant flavors and cooling remedies, and this Ayurvedic-inspired plant-based smoothie perfectly balances both. Designed to pacify Pitta dosha (the fire element) that can flare up in warmer months, this smoothie is hydrating, nourishing, and deliciously refreshing.

  • Mango: Sweet, cooling, and nourishing. Avoid overly sour or unripe mangoes, as they can be Pitta aggravating.
  • Coconut Water: Highly hydrating, naturally sweet, and an excellent Pitta coolant.
  • Mint: A classic cooling herb that aids digestion and freshens breath.
  • Cardamom: A unique spice that, despite its warmth, has a post-digestive cooling effect, helping to balance any residual heat. It also aids digestion and reduces gas.
  • Aloe Vera Juice: Extremely cooling and soothing for the digestive system, excellent for internal heat. (Ensure it’s food-grade and pure).
  • Spinach: A leafy green that is bitter, astringent, and cooling, adding nutrients without noticeable flavor.

Yields: 1 serving Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ripe mango, peeled and diced (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut water
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon food-grade aloe vera juice (optional, for extra cooling)
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach (optional, for added greens)
  • A few ice cubes (optional, if you prefer colder, but Ayurveda often prefers room temp or cool)

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a splash more coconut water.
  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately for maximum freshness and cooling benefits.

This smoothie isn’t just a treat for your taste buds; it’s a mindful way to keep your body in balance all summer long. Sip slowly and savor the refreshing goodness!
