According to Ayurveda, most sweet, juicy fruits act as great cleansers to the system and aid in creating ojas in the body. It also doesn’t hurt that apples and pears are easy to digest and that this recipe doesn’t require too much prep time.
Ayurvedic Stewed Fruit Breakfast Bowl
Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 2 organic apples, peeled and chopped into slices
- 2 organic pears, peeled and chopped into slices
- 1 tbspn organic golden raisins
- 1 tbspn ghee
- 1/4 cup filtered water
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp dried ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cardamom
Directions:
Start by peeling and chopping the apples and pears into small pieces. Heat a small sauté pan, melting the ghee. Next, add all the spices and gently sauté until the amazing scent starts to fill the air.
Now place the chopped fruit and raisins into the pan, adding the ¼ cup of filtered water. Bring to boil and then back to low heat. Cook for approximately 20 minutes or until the fruit is a light golden brown, tender in consistency.
Feel free to change it up by adding a few dates, figs or some shredded coconut.
Serve warm and enjoy!
